More Than 100 Million People Have Difficulty Sleeping… Are You One of Them?

Your alarm clock is ringing- you open your eyes. Think for a moment, do you wake up well rested and ready to face the day or are you like the more than 100 million people who have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep each night?

Lack of sleep has become all too common in our fast-paced world. People either have trouble falling asleep or they don’t sleep comfortably. They sometimes sacrifice sleep to “get more done”, and in turn, do not get the rest their bodies need in order to function optimally. Instead, they often flip flop all night, “toss and turn” or lay awake.

The impact of sleep has led to an alarming rise in prescription medication for a very real condition known as “insomnia”. The effects of lack of sleep, or “insomnia” range from simple annoyances to deadly consequences. Experiencing a lack of sleep can affect your memory, nervous system, immune system and even your growth and development. Research has also shown that people who get less sleep are more prone to be overweight and are proven to cause more traffic accidents. The list seems endless, but there are ways to alleviate this epidemic.

Our office has experienced considerable success in relieving sleeplessness. We utilize the state-of-the-art technology, the ProAdjuster, to identify possible sources of this issue. In fact, the ProAdjuster’s revolutionary technology has received a patient satisfaction rating of over 92%.

If you or someone you know is suffering from lack of sleep, you may want to consider being evaluated with the ProAdjuster. Please contact our office to schedule your evaluation.

Living in Pain? Why You Don’t Have to Accept Pain as a Part of Your Life

Where do you hurt? Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. It’s a warning sign. Millions of people experience pain at some point in their daily life; unfortunately, some even start and their day in pain.

There are two types of pain: acute and chronic. Acute pain can be mild or severe and may be caused by a broken bone, bruise, sprain or even a cut. Chronic pain is different. It can last for months or longer, and may be accompanied by exhaustion, insomnia or weight changes.

Whatever the type of pain, many people resort to using painkillers in order to alleviate the symptoms. On the surface, there is nothing wrong with getting rid of the pain. No one wants to live with discomfort. However, taking medication to reduce the intensity of the pain often only masks the causes of the problem. Ask yourself, wouldn’t it be better to find the true cause and treat it correctly? Of course you would.

If you or someone you know is suffering from pain, you may want to consider being evaluated with the ProAdjuster. Please contact our office to schedule your evaluation. You have nothing to lose but your pain!

50 Million People Suffer From Regular Headaches… Are You One of Them?

You may not believe it, but 50 million people battle headaches on a regular basis and 12 million even suffer headaches daily. What’s more is that 28 million of those “regular headaches” are migraines. And lastly, recent studies have revealed that 20% of children are regularly suffering from headaches. These numbers are startling don’t you think?

The throbbing, pounding sensation of a splitting headache is an all too common condition for millions of people each day. Some suffer with headaches several times a month, others even more. A headache can be a debilitating problem that can jeopardize your employment, decrease your potential, and interrupt your family life.

Headaches are so common that the International Headache Society has classified 129 different types of headaches! The most common of which come from the muscles (muscle tension), blood vessels (migraines), and joins (from the neck called “cervicogenic”).

Headaches are the #1 reason consumers use over-the-counter drugs.

Many people resort to medication to find relief from the headache pain. Unfortunately, the relief they find is often fleeting, and the pain returns once again. For most, it seems as though no matter how many pills they take, the headaches keep returning, and in many cases the headaches increase in severity and frequency.

Our office has experienced considerable success in reliving the cause of headaches. If you or someone you know is suffering from headaches, you may want to consider being evaluated with the ProAdjuster. Please call our office to schedule your evaluation. You have nothing to lose but your headache!

Why Chiropractic Works

New research shows that chiropractic is the fastest-growing and second-largest primary health care profession. There are more than 60,000 Doctors of Chiropractic actively practicing in the United States today and that number has been growing steadily. Why is chiropractic becoming so popular?

With over 30,000,000 visits per each year (and this number is rapidly growing), Americans routinely choose chiropractic services, and with the recent advancements and most cutting-edge computerized technology being introduced, like the ProAdjuster, there is no need for you to be uneasy regarding chiropractic care. The process can be comfortable, relaxing, and your computerized results take all the guesswork out. It truly is revolutionary.

It’s important to recognize that Doctors of Chiropractic are primary health care professionals. According to the Center for Studies in Health Policy, “The chiropractor can provide all three levels of primary care interventions and, therefore, is a primary care provider, as are MDs. The chiropractor’s office is a direct access portal of entry to the full scope of service.”

Chiropractic is also recognized by governmental healthcare programs. Chiropractic is included in Medicare, Medicaid, Federal Employees Health Care Benefits Programs, Federal Workers’ Compensation and all state works’ compensation programs. Studies have indicated that chiropractic care can cost up to 73% less than medical care!

The Practice of Chiropractic is based on sound scientific principles. The existence of the nervous system as the primary control mechanism of the body is an undisputed scientific fact. Its relationship with the spine is the focus of the practice of chiropractic. When vertebrae of the spine become misaligned through trauma or repetitive injury, two major consequences may result: 1) range of motion becomes limited, and all 2) spinal nerves merging from the spinal cord are compromised. Chiropractors use the term subluxation to describe such disruptions.

Interruption of nerve flow can eventually lead to pain, disability, and an overall decrease in the quality of life. Conversely, the removal of that interference has been shown to have significant, lasting health benefits. Through the adjustment of subluxations, the doctor of chiropractor endeavors to restore normal nerve expression. The body is then able to respond appropriately to any imbalance in the system, thus relieving symptoms and restoring health.

Lastly, chiropractic is safe and effective. Chiropractic care is a safe, efficient and cost-effective procedure, which is performed each day nearly one million times. Chiropractic care is non-invasive, and, therefore, the body’s response is far more predictable than its reactions to drug treatments or surgical procedures.

Chiropractic is not magic, it takes time to for your body to heal.

“One of the greatest ironies I find when discussing care protocols is that there is virtually universal agreement regarding the concept that any injured synovial joint must be returned to full range of motion and proprioceptive function for proper rehabilitation to take place. The biomechanical, medical, rehabilitative, physiotherapy and even chiropractic journals all agree on this. What I cannot understand is why some apply this to all synovial joints of the body except the spinal joints!? Nobody in their right mind would stop care for an injured knee, ankle or elbow if the range of motion was not restored but the patient said it didn’t hurt anymore.” Dr. James Chestnut

But Doc, It Hurts Here!

(continuation of “Subluxation, compensation, and the chiropractic adjustment”)

Just because a puppy yelps when you step on its tail doesn’t mean you need to check its mouth to fix what’s wrong. Get your foot off its tail!

By locating and adjusting you Subluxation vs. Compensation, your entire body can begin to reset, re-align and begin the healing process. Notice it is a healing process, not a healing event. By finding the subluxation versus the compensation, usually only a few adjustments need to be made each visit. At times the adjustment will be nowhere near the pain or symptom.

If we honor your process, listen to your body and adjust the cause versus trying to mask the symptom, we will get optimal results. If we try to do too much too fast, and try to make a compensation feel better versus simply adjusting the subluxation, we will take energy and focus away from what really needs to be corrected and we will not gain any ground.

The random shoe thats always on the side of the highway?

Subluxation, Compensation and the Chiropractic Adjustment” continued-

Subluxation vs. Compensation

Assume you were standing on the floor with only one shoe having a 2″ heel on your right foot. Immediately every muscle, bone, ligament, tendon, etc. in your body would “compensate” to keep your eyes parallel to the ground.

Go ahead, try it!  Really!

Your right knee bends, the left hip rotates high, and the spine begins to look like an “S”. The right shoulder goes high and the head tilts to the right.

If you remain in this posture for any period of time your joints and muscles well begin to speak to you (via pain and discomfort) letting you know that there is something wrong, that there is imbalance throughout the system.  If left this way long enough certain muscles will “grow” longer while others will shorten.  Bones will begin to “remodel” or change and grow to their new stress, or new positions.  You might experience knee, low back, mid-back, and/or neck pain.  This pain is an important signal or alarm that lets you know there is imbalance, that something is wrong.

We could put ointment on your knee, “crack” you low back, do “therapies” to you mid-back, or “manipulate” your neck.  And although it may “feel” better in the short term we would have done nothing to correct the underlying problem.

On the other hand, we could “adjust” the cause of the problem and remove the shoe on the right foot.  Your body would immediately begin a “process” of resetting and re-balancing every bone, muscle, ligament and tendon in your body, or it’s “effects”.

Does this mean all of your pain would immediately go away?  Of course not.  It simply means that over time, after your body re-aligned, reset, re-grew and re-balanced, there would be no need for the signal or alarm, and then there would be no need for pain.

The pain would eventually go away.

Eggs are cracked, Chiropractors adjust

The following is part of a handout that was given to me years ago, I apologize that I do not know who deserves the credit for writing it, but thanks!

Subluxation, Compensation, and the Chiropractic Adjustment

“The difference between a Chiropractic adjustment and having your neck or back “cracked” or “manipulated” is like the difference between the first time you kissed your sweetheart and kissing a frog.  In both cases the physical action is similar but the overall experience is very different.

The intent of an adjustment is to locate or find the “subluxation,” reduce and eventually remove it, thereby normalizing your spinal system and allowing your life force or “mental impulse” to flow free of interference.
There is a very big difference between finding and adjusting the subluxation and “cracking” or manipulating” the compensation.

Let’s look at what Webster has to say . . . . .

Webster’s Dictionary:

Adjust: to bring to a more satisfactory state: (1): settle, resolve (2): rectify.  To bring the parts to a true or more effective relative position.

Crack: to make a very sharp explosive sound. To break, split, or snap apart.

Manipulate: to control or play upon by artful, unfair, or insidious means, especially to one’s own advantage.  To change by artful or unfair means to serve one’s purpose.

Compensate: to offset an error, defect, or undesired effect.  To provide with means of counteracting variation.  To neutralize the effect of.

Subluxation: There are three aspects of a subluxation.  a) The vertebra is no longer oscillating or moving through its normal range of motion.  b) Neural tissue, (spinal cord and nerve roots) are compromised.  c) There is an alteration of the “mental impulse.”  (Not from Webster)

Mental Impulse: a term used to describe the information that goes from the brain to the end tissue or cell, and back to the brain again.  (Not from Webster)

With this in mind it is obvious that “adjusting” our “subluxations” (or cause) is certainly preferred to “cracking” or “manipulating” our “compensations” (or effects.)”

Validating the Chiropractic Model- Premise 8

Premise 8-“Decreased mechanoreceptive input results in less inhibition of nociception (less inhibition of stress response and sympathetically induced muscle spasm and vasoconstriction) and to decreased essential afferent input into the cerebellar-brainstem-cortical loops that have been recently shown to coordinate homeostatic cognition, affect (emotion), visceral function ( including immune organs) as well as movement, muscle tone and posture.”

Simplified-  Proper joint movement in the body not only can allow you feel better, it can allow you to be healthier. (Also Chiropractic adjustments fire mechanoreceptors directly)  When the joints of the body aren’t moving enough, you can have more muscle spasms and stress responses ( see previous articles) and decreased motion can actually affect your immune system, muscle tone, posture and even your emotions.
